Californication
Californication follows Hank Moody, a gifted but self-destructive novelist living in Los Angeles as he struggles with writer’s block and a life that keeps spinning off course. His drinking, reckless hookups, and bad impulses collide with his desire to be a better father and repair things with Karen, the woman he still loves. Darkly funny and painfully honest, the series explores temptation, fame, and the cost of never quite growing up.
Hank Moody is a celebrated writer whose talent is matched only by his ability to sabotage himself. Now in Los Angeles, he can’t seem to finish his next book, and the pressure of success only feeds his worst habits. Hank wants to show up for his teenage daughter, Becca, and rebuild trust with Karen, his longtime partner, but his days are filled with late nights, hangovers, impulsive choices, and complicated entanglements that keep pulling him away from the life he says he wants. As he navigates the city’s seductive mix of fame, money, and easy distractions, Hank’s sharp wit and honesty can be as damaging as they are charming. His agent and best friend, Charlie Runkle, deals with his own chaotic marriage and career swings, often amplifying Hank’s misadventures. Balancing comedy with raw drama, the show tracks Hank’s ongoing battle between responsibility and self-destruction.
