Overview

Sharp-eyed slacker Shawn Spencer keeps landing in trouble after calling in flawless crime tips to the Santa Barbara Police. To avoid being treated as a suspect, he convinces detectives he’s a psychic and is hired as a consultant. With his practical best friend Gus reluctantly in tow and his tough ex-cop father constantly challenging him, Shawn turns observation and improv into a quirky partnership that cracks cases while stirring chaos at the station.

Synopsis

Shawn Spencer grew up under the strict guidance of his father, a seasoned police detective who trained him to notice everything. As an adult, Shawn drifts through odd jobs, but his uncanny attention to detail makes him compulsively call in tips that solve real crimes. When the Santa Barbara Police start to suspect he may be connected to a case, Shawn panics and improvises a bold cover: he claims he receives psychic visions. The ruse works, and he’s brought on as a civilian consultant, free to investigate from the outside. Shawn ropes his cautious best friend, Burton Guster, into helping, turning their partnership into a blend of logic, comedy, and quick talking. At the station, Shawn’s antics clash with skeptical detectives and his father’s no-nonsense advice, yet his methods repeatedly uncover key evidence. Each case pushes Shawn to balance responsibility with his need to keep the act believable.
