American Dad!

American Dad! is an animated comedy about the unpredictable Smith household, led by Stan, a hard-charging CIA agent obsessed with security and control. His patient wife Francine tries to keep the peace while their rebellious daughter Hayley and awkward son Steve stumble through growing up. Life gets even stranger with Klaus, a talkative goldfish, and Roger, a flamboyant alien who constantly reinvents himself through wild disguises that pull the family into chaos.

Set in suburban America, American Dad! follows the Smiths, a family whose everyday routines are constantly derailed by paranoia, ambition, and impulsive schemes. Stan Smith treats home life like a mission, bringing his patriotic intensity and spy-world instincts into everything from parenting to neighborhood disputes. Francine balances loyalty and frustration as she tries to hold the household together, while Hayley challenges Stan’s worldview and Steve chases popularity, romance, and acceptance with earnest desperation. Sharing the house are Klaus, a sarcastic fish with big opinions, and Roger, a stranded alien who lives for attention. Roger’s endless lineup of outrageous personas and hidden agendas creates most of the family’s problems, then unexpectedly helps solve them. Episodes mix satire, character-driven absurdity, and sharp banter as the Smiths lurch from one over-the-top misadventure to the next, usually learning nothing but growing closer anyway.
