The Munsters

Year: 1964 First Air: 1964-09-24
Overview

In a quiet suburban neighborhood, the Munsters are just another loving family, even if they look like classic movie monsters. Herman and Lily do their best to fit in, Grandpa’s peculiar schemes keep the household lively, and young Eddie embraces his unusual talents. Their glamorous niece Marilyn seems perfectly ordinary to everyone else, baffling the family. Each episode finds them navigating everyday life while misreading why neighbors act so strangely.

Synopsis

The Munsters follows the warm, well-meaning household living at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, where the only unusual thing, in their eyes, is how nervous everyone else seems. Herman Munster, a bighearted Frankenstein-like father, tries to be a steady provider while stumbling into misunderstandings at work and in the community. His vampire wife Lily keeps the family running with patience and affection, while her father Grandpa, an eccentric, Dracula-like inventor, turns the basement lab into a source of constant commotion. Their son Eddie, a werewolf-ish kid, balances school problems with the quirks of growing up different. Meanwhile, Marilyn, their sweet niece who appears completely normal, is treated as the odd one by her relatives and the only one who can see how the outside world reacts to them. With a fire-breathing pet and plenty of domestic chaos, the series playfully satirizes suburban manners and the idea of the perfect American family.
