Overview

A warm rural sitcom set around the Shady Rest Hotel, where Kate Bradley and her three daughters juggle visitors, neighbors, and small town mix ups. Gentle humor and quirky characters drive the everyday adventures

Synopsis

At the Shady Rest Hotel in the farming town of Hooterville, widowed Kate Bradley tries to keep the business running while raising her three lively daughters—Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo, and Betty Jo. Their home becomes a crossroads for eccentric guests, local schemers, and long suffering regulars like handyman turned aviation enthusiast Hank Kimball and cook Goober Pyle. Much of the fun comes from the town’s laid back logic, the girls’ romantic and career dreams, and the way problems are solved with neighborly stubbornness. The series shares a cozy “country” universe with other CBS comedies of the era and leans on recurring gags, friendly rivalries, and community events. Even when plans go sideways, the Bradleys usually end the day closer as a family
