Ted Raimi's career connects horror, comic fantasy, television adventure and interactive performance. Many viewers know him as Joxer in Xena: Warrior Princess, while others first encountered him as Tim O'Neill aboard seaQuest or beneath the makeup of possessed Henrietta in Evil Dead II. These roles ask for very different kinds of presence: an awkward would-be hero, a member of a futuristic crew and a grotesque threat. His work is consequently best approached through its changes in tone and physical form rather than a single screen persona.
Born in Detroit, Raimi developed his early film career around the same independent filmmaking circle that included his brother, director Sam Raimi, and actor Bruce Campbell. The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II are important parts of that history, but their family connection does not explain the whole filmography. He also appeared in Wes Craven's Shocker and in productions such as Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Grudge. Those credits place him among working character actors moving between small genre films and larger studio productions.
A substantial early leading role came in Josh Becker's Lunatics: A Love Story. Raimi played Hank Stone, a reclusive poet whose fears and hallucinations keep him confined to his apartment. Deborah Foreman's Nancy enters his life, and their shared interest in poetry creates a possible connection beyond his isolation. The film circulated in 1991 before its 1992 Los Angeles theatrical engagement. Its mix of romance, comedy and psychological unease gave Raimi an extended central character, distinct from the shorter appearances for which genre audiences also recognised him.
From 1993 to 1996 he played Tim O'Neill in seaQuest DSV and its renamed third season, seaQuest 2032. The Amblin Television and Universal production followed an advanced submarine and its crew on an imagined future Earth. Steven Spielberg served as an executive producer, and the original ensemble included Roy Scheider and Jonathan Brandis. O'Neill's work as a communications officer placed Raimi within a continuing team, making his reactions and relationships part of a weekly adventure series rather than a single film's brief encounter.
Joxer gave Raimi a different continuing role in Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. The character's aspiration to heroic stature and his awkwardness created room for physical comedy alongside the shows' action and mythology. Raimi's other recurring screen identities include Hoffman in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films and Chet Kaminski in Ash vs Evil Dead. The Spider-Man premiere photograph in this gallery records him at a public event with Suzanne Keilly; it is separate from any image of Hoffman at work in the fictional newsroom.
The Quarry brought Raimi into an interactive horror ensemble in 2022 as Travis Hackett. Publisher materials identify his character and place him among a cast that includes David Arquette, Ariel Winter, Justice Smith and Brenda Song. The game follows camp counsellors through a night in which player decisions affect the unfolding story. This format gives a performance a different context from a fixed film screening: viewers make choices within the narrative, while the actor must sustain a recognisable person across the situations the game presents.
Alex Kahuam's Failure! later placed Raimi at the centre of a crime thriller presented as one continuous long take. He plays James, a man facing a choice between financial collapse and murder to protect his family. The filmmaker's record describes an 87-minute production, giving the central performance a sustained structure unlike an episodic guest role. The public photographs here span the 2007 Spider-Man 3 event, the 2010 Streamy Awards and GalaxyCon Raleigh in 2024, tracing different moments in a career that continues across familiar and experimental forms.
