Scott Speedman is an actor whose career includes the television drama Felicity, the Underworld films and later series such as Grey's Anatomy and Teacup. His screen roles move between romantic drama, suspense and action, with both continuing television characters and feature-film ensembles in the mix. Ben Covington in Felicity remains a useful early reference point, while Dr. Nick Marsh and R.J. Decker offer later television introductions. Each role has its own setting and relationships, rather than forming a single continuous screen identity.
Felicity paired Speedman with Keri Russell and gave him the role of Ben Covington across the show's four-season run. The part placed him within a young ensemble and a continuing relationship-driven story. It is a different viewing experience from his subsequent genre films, where danger and suspense often organize the action. Beginning with Felicity provides context for audiences who first encountered him in a later thriller or medical drama and want to see an earlier stage of his television work.
Speedman starred opposite Kate Beckinsale in Underworld and Underworld: Evolution. Sony's description of the first film places their characters in a Gothic conflict between vampires and werewolves. The films offer a supernatural action setting, distinct from the more everyday relationships of Felicity. As a comparison, the two projects show how the same performer can work within different scales of storytelling: a continuing television ensemble develops over many episodes, while a feature film builds toward a more concentrated series of confrontations and resolutions.
His feature credits also include My Life Without Me, The 24th Day, Duets, Dark Blue and The Strangers. Sony Pictures Classics' production record for Adoration places several of those films within his earlier career and identifies collaborators including Sarah Polley, James Marsden and Liv Tyler. The range supplies alternatives to a franchise-only viewing route. A quieter drama or a self-contained suspense film can reveal a different relationship between the actor and the surrounding story than an effects-driven action series.
Later television work included Last Resort and Animal Kingdom, followed by the role of Dr. Nick Marsh in Grey's Anatomy. Speedman first appeared in the medical drama in 2018 and subsequently returned. He also appeared in the third season of You as Matthew. These credits place him in several kinds of ongoing ensemble: military drama, crime-family storytelling, a medical series and a psychological thriller. Following one role within its own program is more useful than assuming that similarities in genre make the characters interchangeable.
Teacup cast Speedman as James Chenoweth opposite Yvonne Strahovski in 2024. The Peacock series concerns a group facing a mysterious threat in rural Georgia, combining domestic relationships with a horror premise. ABC later cast him in the title role of R.J. Decker, a former newspaper photographer and ex-con who becomes a private investigator in South Florida. These later parts continue the movement between suspense-driven ensembles and a central character whose occupation supplies the basis for the show's stories.
An introduction can move from Felicity to the first two Underworld films, then sample Grey's Anatomy or Teacup. The selection is intended as a route through contrasting work, not a complete list. The gallery records Speedman at the New York premiere of Barney's Version in 2011 and at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2014. The second archive file carries a later metadata timestamp, so the event caption follows its explicit festival description. Both images document public appearances and retain their individual photographer and license acknowledgments.
