Intro

Rose McIver is a New Zealand actress whose work includes the supernatural television comedies iZombie and Ghosts, the Netflix film A Christmas Prince and the ensemble drama The Lovely Bones. Her roles range from Liv Moore, whose unusual condition drives a crime series, to Samantha Arondekar, a woman able to see the spirits occupying her home. These leading television parts sit within a career that began in childhood and developed through New Zealand productions, American television and feature films.

Career snapshot

McIver grew up in Titirangi, New Zealand, and appeared in commercials and Jane Campion's The Piano while very young. Dance was also part of her childhood training. Her agency's career record lists subsequent work in New Zealand television, including Maddigan's Quest, in which she played Garland, and Rude Awakenings as Constance Short. Following those credits before turning to the American series gives a fuller picture of her development than beginning the story only with a later international lead role.

The entry point

In Power Rangers RPM, McIver played Summer Landsdown, the Yellow Ranger. Another 2009 credit was Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones, in which she portrayed Lindsey Salmon alongside a cast led by Saoirse Ronan. The action-oriented television series and the feature adaptation offer very different dramatic settings. They are useful companion choices for viewers exploring her earlier work: one places her in a costumed adventure ensemble, while the other gives her a place within a family story shaped by grief and mystery.

Screen identity and style

McIver led iZombie as Olivia 'Liv' Moore through its five-season run from 2015 to 2019. The role linked a supernatural premise with ongoing character relationships and case-based storytelling. Her television work around that period also included Vivian Scully in Masters of Sex and Tinker Bell in Once Upon a Time. Those are separate characters in distinct fictional settings. Comparing them makes the changes of genre and ensemble particularly apparent, while the longer run of iZombie allows a viewer to follow one character's development across seasons.

Collaborations and patterns

The 2017 romantic comedy A Christmas Prince cast McIver as Amber. She returned for The Royal Wedding in 2018 and The Royal Baby in 2019, with Ben Lamb among her fellow leads. The series offers a more compact continuing story than a multi-season television drama. Watching the films in release order preserves the progression from the original romance into its sequels. McIver's agency also records a Queen Amber appearance in The Princess Switch: Switched Again, connecting that role to another holiday-film setting.

Era reflection

Ghosts paired McIver's Sam with Utkarsh Ambudkar's Jay as a couple turning an inherited estate into a bed-and-breakfast. Sam's ability to see and hear the resident spirits gives her a particular place in the ensemble's exchanges. Beyond acting, McIver directed the short To the Death, which premiered at LA Shorts in 2023. That project adds a filmmaking credit to the selected screen roles. It also provides a different way to explore her career, considering work behind the camera alongside the performances familiar from television.

Legacy and rediscovery

An introductory viewing path can start with The Lovely Bones, continue through selected iZombie episodes and the Christmas Prince films, and then turn to Ghosts. The route highlights changing formats rather than attempting to list every appearance. The gallery contains a 2015 WonderCon photograph and a separate 2017 iZombie panel image, with McIver at the far left of the group. Both record public appearances; neither is presented as a scene from a fictional production. Individual credits identify their photographers and reuse terms.
