Rebecca Wisocky is an American actress whose work spans experimental theater, television comedy and drama, film and voice performance. Television audiences know her particularly as Evelyn Powell in Devious Maids and Hetty Woodstone in Ghosts. Both roles make use of status and social behavior as sources of comedy, but they belong to different fictional settings. Her professional history reaches well beyond those two series, including an Obie-winning stage performance and years of ensemble work with New York theater companies before her sustained television roles.
Wisocky began participating in community theater in her hometown of York, Pennsylvania. She studied at New York University's Experimental Theatre Wing and became an original member of Big Dance Theater. That background joined acting with movement and physical storytelling rather than treating a performance solely as spoken dialogue. Her early New York work also included Jeff Weiss's Hot Keys. These experiences form an important part of the training and collaborative practice that preceded the screen characters through which a broader audience later encountered her.
Her New York stage credits include God's Ear at the Vineyard Theatre, Hot 'n Throbbing at Signature Theatre, 36 Views at the Public Theater and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. In 2008 she received an Obie for Amazons and Their Men, Jordan Harrison's play in which she portrayed a filmmaker inspired by Leni Riefenstahl. Later, at the Geffen Playhouse in 2016, she played Barbara in Robert O'Hara's Barbecue. The variety of these productions connects her work with both established dramatic forms and contemporary playwrights experimenting with character and narrative.
Devious Maids cast Wisocky as Evelyn Powell through the series' four-season run from 2013 to 2016. Her other television credits include American Horror Story, The Mentalist, True Blood and a recurring role as Ramdha in Star Trek: Picard. She also appeared in For All Mankind and Dopesick. Film work includes Pollock, Hello My Name Is Doris, Blonde and Amsterdam, while animation offered the voice role of Ebay Elayne in Ralph Breaks the Internet. Those assignments placed her within markedly different genres and production ensembles.
Ghosts introduced Wisocky's Hetty Woodstone in 2021 as one of the spirits sharing the house inherited by Samantha and Jay. Hetty is tied to the property's nineteenth-century history and to Samantha's family. The character's assumptions about class and social behavior become part of the comedy as she lives alongside ghosts from other periods. The role brings Wisocky into a large ensemble in which reactions, timing and physical relationships can matter as much as an individual line, allowing her movement background to inform a television performance.
In a 2023 Casting Networks interview, Wisocky described the unusual beginning of that ensemble. Its first network table read took place in March 2020, immediately before the pandemic shutdown interrupted production. Cast members maintained contact through messages and video gatherings before they could film the pilot. She also explained that movement training helped her think about how proximity to another performer could communicate a relationship in crowded scenes. Her account offers a specific view of the preparation and collaboration behind a character who might initially seem defined mainly by period clothes and manners.

In the latter image Wisocky stands at the center of a Ghosts cast group with Richie Moriarty, Roman Zaragoza, Asher Grodman and Danielle Pinnock. Their April 9 visit accompanied a screening and panel discussion at the Library. These two public occasions document different ensemble chapters of her career, with the photographs' dates, creators and reuse terms retained alongside the biography.
