Intro

Millie Bobby Brown is a British actor and producer whose breakthrough as Eleven in Stranger Things led to a succession of leading film roles. Her work includes the detective Enola Holmes, the survival-minded Elodie in Damsel and Michelle in The Electric State. Alongside performing, she has taken a producing role in developing screen stories. This combination is central to her career: she has moved from joining an ensemble series as a young actor to helping bring projects to the screen with herself at the center of their stories.

Career snapshot

Stranger Things introduced Eleven as a girl with extraordinary abilities and very limited experience of ordinary family life. Brown's performance initially depended heavily on expression, movement and brief speech as Eleven encountered the friends in Hawkins. The character's relationships with Mike Wheeler and Jim Hopper became continuing parts of the series. Over its five seasons, the role developed beyond the mystery of her powers to include friendship, belonging and responsibility. That long association also meant audiences watched Brown grow up while following the character's changing place within the ensemble.

The entry point

Enola Holmes gave her a very different heroine. Based on Nancy Springer's mysteries, the first film follows Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes's younger sister as she searches for her missing mother and makes her own decisions about the life expected of her. Harry Bradbeer directed from Jack Thorne's screenplay. Netflix's original production announcement credits both Millie Bobby Brown and Paige Brown as producers through PCMA Productions. The character's quick thinking and direct engagement with the audience create a contrast with Eleven's initially guarded presence, while keeping a young woman's independence at the center.

Screen identity and style

The Enola films developed into a continuing series, with Brown returning in Enola Holmes 2 and the 2026 third film. Netflix's guide places the third adventure in Malta, where the detective's personal plans become entangled with another investigation. These sequels let the character acquire experience rather than starting over with an unrelated heroine. They also demonstrate the difference between appearing in a single adaptation and sustaining a screen character across multiple stories. Brown's association with the project includes both the visible performance and the production work established with the first film.

Collaborations and patterns

Damsel, released in 2024, casts Brown as Elodie, a young woman whose proposed royal marriage conceals a deadly bargain. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directed the film from Dan Mazeau's screenplay. Once Elodie is left in a dragon's cave, the story becomes a survival adventure rather than the romantic rescue promised by its fairy-tale setting. Netflix's filmmaking account emphasizes the physical demands of the role and the character's reliance on her own resourcefulness. Brown's central performance carries stretches of danger in which the immediate problem is how to survive the surrounding environment.

Era reflection

The Electric State brought another science-fiction setting in 2025, with Brown playing Michelle in the Russo brothers' adaptation of Simon Stalenhag's illustrated story. Her journey across an alternate America places her among robots and human travelers after a destructive conflict. Away from acting, UNICEF appointed Brown a Goodwill Ambassador on November 20, 2018, when she was fourteen. The organization described her remit as advocacy for children's rights, including education and protection from violence and bullying. That appointment belongs to her public advocacy work and is separate from any fictional role or film promotion.

Legacy and rediscovery

The photographs here document two distinct public appearances: a 2022 Stranger Fan Meet in Paris and the 2017 Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. They show Brown as herself and are not presented as images of Eleven, Enola, Elodie or Michelle. A useful route through her work is to compare those characters' different ways of responding to danger and uncertainty: supernatural power, investigation, physical survival and a search through an unfamiliar world. The common thread is a series of leading roles, while the performance style and storytelling context change from one project to another.
