Kat Cressida is an American actress whose voice work connects television animation, video games, sports broadcasting and theme-park attractions. Her characters include Dee Dee in seasons two and four of Dexter's Laboratory, Bloody Mary in The Wolf Among Us and Constance Hatchaway in Disney's Haunted Mansion. These are different kinds of performances: a recurring cartoon character, an interactive game's antagonist and a voice integrated into a physical attraction. The Haunted Mansion offers one entry point into a career that often reaches audiences without placing the performer herself on screen.
In an LA Weekly education profile, Cressida described studying Critical Writing and Analysis and Theatre Production and Management at UC Berkeley, with additional summer study at UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. She worked as a literary agent before spending several years acting on camera. A Disney animator encouraged her to explore voice-over. She then trained at The Voicecaster in Burbank and later coached animation workshops there. Her account presents the change of direction as a learned craft, involving microphone technique and responding quickly to direction, rather than simply possessing a recognizable voice.
The same profile describes the practical work behind that career: Cressida established a home studio and learned to operate Pro Tools with an engineer's help. Recording auditions and handling sessions required technical knowledge alongside performance. She connected her education with persistence, planning and collaboration, recalling theatre training that involved work across a production. Those observations explain how her earlier experience could support a profession in which much of the finished contribution is heard rather than seen. The profile records a particular stage of her career, not a statement about her present representation or daily schedule.
Speaking with Ian Spelling for PopStar, Cressida distinguished the demands of animation from those of promotional announcing. Animation could call for improvisation, varied characters and dialects; promotional work required clear storytelling and precise timing against an edited picture. She discussed her role as house announcer for ESPN's NFL Draft coverage, including sponsor messages, transitions around breaks and related preview programming. The interview makes the production responsibilities concrete. Her work on Pardon the Interruption belongs to this announcing strand, alongside character performances created for cartoons and games.
Cressida also linked voice performance with her theatre background. In the PopStar conversation, she recalled enjoying sitcoms performed before an audience and the challenge of making written language feel spontaneous. Her preference for working at a microphone did not erase the preparation involved. She described different specialties within voice-over, including voice matching and live announcing. Taken together, those comments show why a single career label can cover quite different working methods: reading promotional copy to time, shaping a fictional personality and matching an established performance each ask something different of the actor.
In a 2019 Phantom Manor Legends interview, Cressida recalled television guest appearances including Murder, She Wrote and Diagnosis Murder, followed by early voice work as Dee Dee. She carefully described Jessie assignments as voice matching Joan Cusack for selected Disney shows, attractions, toys and games; Cusack originated the character. Cressida also remembered childhood visits to Disneyland and noticing the sounds that helped create its settings. RetroWDW's production discussion places her casting as Constance in the Haunted Mansion's 2006 attic revision. The attraction credit therefore concerns that character and version, rather than the ride's original 1969 production.
The photographs show the performer at public appearances rather than recreations of her animated or attraction characters. An individual convention portrait archived in 2018 accompanies two separate frames taken by Gage Skidmore at the 2025 Amazing Art Expo in Phoenix. The two Phoenix pictures are from the same event but show different moments and framing; they are not presented as different productions. The earlier portrait's exact event date has not been established from the archive, so its caption identifies the archival year. Individual credits and license records remain attached to each photograph.
Three distinct public-appearance photographs, including two separate frames from the same Phoenix event.
