E. G. Daily has worked as an on-screen actress, a singer and a voice performer, with recognisable roles in each field. Film audiences know her as Dottie in Pee-wee's Big Adventure, while animation audiences may first identify her through Tommy Pickles in Rugrats or Buttercup in The Powerpuff Girls. Those performances belong to the same career, although the audience's relationship with the performer is different in each medium. Her music adds another strand, extending from solo recordings to songs heard in film and television.
Daily was born Elizabeth Ann Guttman in Los Angeles in 1961 and has also been credited as Elizabeth Daily. Her early screen work included Loryn in Valley Girl and Dottie in Tim Burton's 1985 Pee-wee's Big Adventure. She appeared in No Small Affair and as a singer in Better Off Dead, among other films of that period. Those credits establish a visible screen career before the animated characters that would later become such a large part of her public identity. They also connect her acting and singing rather than treating them as entirely separate occupations.
Rugrats began on Nickelodeon in August 1991. Daily supplied the voice of Tommy Pickles, one of the babies through whose imagination ordinary life becomes an adventure. The programme was created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo and Paul Germain, and its original production extended across nine seasons and thirteen years. Daily continued with Tommy in related films and the older-child spin-off All Grown Up. The character therefore required continuity across more than one format, with the familiar voice helping audiences recognise him as the setting and age of the children changed.
She returned as Tommy for the computer-animated Rugrats series that premiered in May 2021. Paramount's production record lists her alongside Nancy Cartwright, Cheryl Chase, Cree Summer and Kath Soucie, while a new group of performers voiced the adults. The reimagining changed the visual presentation but retained several voices associated with the original babies. That combination placed Daily's performance in a new version of a well-established programme, making her contribution a connection between audiences who first encountered Rugrats decades apart.
Other voice work includes Buttercup in the original Powerpuff Girls, Rudy Tabootie in ChalkZone and the title character in Babe: Pig in the City. The latter is specifically the 1998 sequel, rather than the first Babe film. She also voiced young Mumble in Happy Feet. These roles range from children to animated or talking animals, each requiring a distinct character presence without relying on the actress's own appearance. Her live-action work continued as well, including My Sister's Keeper and 31, alongside guest appearances such as Phoebe's former songwriting partner on Friends.
Daily's recording career includes the albums Wild Child, Lace Around the Wound, Tearing Down the Walls and Changing Faces. Her dance hit Say It, Say It was produced by John Jellybean Benitez. She also worked with producers including Giorgio Moroder and Keith Forsey, and her soundtrack contributions reached films such as Scarface and The Breakfast Club. In 2013 she competed on the fifth season of The Voice as part of Blake Shelton's team. That appearance put her own singing voice before an audience that might already have known her primarily through fictional characters.
The gallery brings the performer into view through three separately credited photographs. Ewen Roberts photographed her at Comic-Con in 2008, Natalie Faye made the 2018 portrait, and Kevin Paul photographed her at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2026. These are portraits and public appearances, not frames from the films or cartoons. Together with the selected credits, they offer a route from the visible actress of Valley Girl and Pee-wee's Big Adventure to the voice work of Rugrats and The Powerpuff Girls, while leaving space for the recording career that ran alongside them.
Three distinct credited photographs from 2008, 2018 and 2026, showing the performer outside her fictional roles.
