Intro

Daniel Craig is associated with two very different recurring screen characters: James Bond and the detective Benoit Blanc. The contrast offers an inviting route through his work, from physical danger and guarded emotions to elaborate mysteries and comic misdirection. His career also includes Broadway drama, allowing viewers to place the familiar film image beside a continuing interest in live performance. The photographs here connect the making and promotion of his Bond films with a later public portrait.

Career snapshot

Craig was born in Chester, England, on March 2, 1968. Guildhall School identifies him among its acting alumni and records his first screen appearance in The Power of One in 1992. That beginning is worth keeping in view when approaching the much larger franchises that followed. Training, early screen work and subsequent stage productions belong to the same career, even when publicity around a single role can make everything else seem secondary.

The entry point

Casino Royale introduced Craig's Bond in 2006 under director Martin Campbell. Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli returned to Ian Fleming's first Bond novel to begin a new version of the character's story. Eva Green and Mads Mikkelsen joined the cast. For a rewatch, follow the changes in Bond's confidence as closely as the action: a character establishing his professional identity gives the audience different questions from an agent whose routines are already settled.

Screen identity and style

Craig played Bond in five films from 2006 to 2021, concluding with No Time to Die. His screen presence can make stillness feel as consequential as movement. As a viewing exercise, watch how a pause, a fixed look or a withheld response alters an exchange before the action resumes. Then compare that economy with Benoit Blanc's more expansive verbal manner. The contrast is useful without reducing either performance to a costume, an accent or a famous introduction.

Collaborations and patterns

Broadway provides another way to follow his choices. IBDB records Joey in A Steady Rain in 2009, Robert in Betrayal in 2013 and the title role in Macbeth in 2022. These are distinct dramatic settings rather than extensions of Bond. They also remind us that a film actor's public career is not confined to releases that can be watched on demand. Production dates and character names preserve work whose original theatrical encounter was temporary.

Era reflection

Rian Johnson's mysteries introduced a different continuing collaboration. Craig played Blanc in Knives Out in 2019 and returned in Glass Onion in 2022, whose investigation takes him to Greece. His other screen work includes The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Logan Lucky. Pairing a mystery with a Bond film makes a useful informal double bill: notice what Craig reveals immediately, what he disguises through conversational behavior and how the surrounding ensemble changes the meaning of his reactions.

Legacy and rediscovery

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery followed in 2025 as the third Blanc film. This page therefore treats it as released work, rather than an upcoming promise. Craig's film and stage credits make room for an evolving career beyond any one franchise. The gallery keeps its evidence specific: a 2006 filming break, the 2015 Spectre premiere and a 2022 photograph. None is presented as an image of an unrelated role or a later production.
