Amir Talai is an American actor whose work crosses live-action television, film, musical theatre and animation. His voice roles include Alastor in the Prime Video series Hazbin Hotel, Crane in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and Skidmark in Turbo Fast. Those credits place him in productions aimed at different audiences, from family animation to an adult animated musical. His on-camera work developed alongside them, making the voice career one part of a wider performing practice rather than a separate beginning.
Talai's television credits include Abdul in Campus Ladies, Cyrus in The Ex List and Alan in LA to Vegas. These are distinct ensemble comedies with different settings and character relationships. They offer a useful counterpoint to roles in which only his voice is heard. Watching an on-camera performance makes it possible to see facial and physical choices that animation must convey through a collaboration among actor, artists and production team. The connection is the actor's work with timing and characterization, even when the visible result changes.
Nickelodeon's launch announcement for Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness names Talai as Crane. This is the television series, a distinction worth preserving because the feature films have a different voice cast for that character. The show extended the animated world into recurring adventures, requiring a voice that could sustain an ensemble relationship over many episodes. Crane's place among the skilled fighters provides both action and comic opportunities. A career record should therefore identify the exact production instead of crediting Talai broadly with every appearance of Crane.
Turbo Fast gave Talai another recurring animated role as Skidmark. The television comedy-adventure format creates a different setting from the martial-arts world of Kung Fu Panda. Together, the two series show experience in returning characters before the arrival of Hazbin Hotel. For a listening comparison, focus on rhythm and energy, and on how a character's reactions fit the surrounding group. Animation depends on many contributors, so the finished characterization should be understood as a performance integrated with writing, design, editing and the work of other cast members.
Hazbin Hotel brought Talai to Alastor in the Prime Video series, an adult animated musical created by Vivienne Medrano. He also voices Tom Trench. The series credit should be kept distinct from the earlier pilot, whose casting was different. Convention biographies describe a connection between his musical-theatre work and his casting: a video of his Bert Healy performance in Annie at the Hollywood Bowl came to Medrano's attention. The 2018 production's cast announcement independently confirms that stage role, linking the screen voice work to an established live-performance background.
His film and television-film appearances include Raza Syed in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, Wendell in Best Player and Patel in What to Expect When You're Expecting. Later credits include A Patient Man and The Present. These parts demonstrate a continuing on-camera career alongside animation and theatre. They should be approached as individual assignments rather than as versions of his best-known animated character. A viewer moving between these projects can see how format and tone change the scale of a supporting performance.
An introduction to Talai can pair an episode of Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness with a live-action comedy appearance and then Hazbin Hotel, with attention to the latter's adult audience. The gallery contains separate convention photographs from Richmond in 2024 and Columbus in 2025. They document public appearances by the actor rather than scenes from any of the productions discussed here. The dated photographs, exact role names and source records together offer a compact guide to a career that moves among spoken dialogue, singing and ensemble comedy.
